Hurray!
As she should be, Zoe was extremely proud and pleased with herself when our SLP gave her this certificate, along with a Speech Star ribbon. Our SLP is leaving PR, we said our goodbyes last week. Zoe will continue to see the next SLP (none yet hired) in PR. We'll be working on facilitating longer conversations, storytelling, and articulation.
It's great to hear Zoe talking, with confidence, to her family, friends, and anyone else that comes along. She also talks back, argues her point (alot), tells us what and how it will be, and basically talks all the time. We love it, even if it can sometimes make us crazy.
Zoe has always talked alot (especially at home), it was just hard for most people to understand her, I could understand most of what was said...I learned her lingo.
My heart melts each time that Zoe and another person have a conversation together without me interpreting for her. It's been a long road, and she has worked so hard, and is working hard to put all her words to good use.
TEARFULLY and JOYFULLY PROUD PARENTAL UNITS - Al and Robyn
P.S. I need to thank a friend for ever so gently and lovingly pointing us in the right direction to the public health unit SLP. I know we would have pursued it anyway, but sometimes you need a nudge. M.J., I have never forgotten our conversation that day, nor will I ever. You may not know it, but you helped us go down a road we'd only thought about, with your honest words and concern for Zoe...you shared the truth, what some friends have a hard time doing; especially when it involves our children. It's been a blessing.

Good for Zoe!!! I can imagine your elation, hearing Zoe speak with someone else while you merely stand by listening. What a HUGE step!!! You are obviously so very proud of her.
It all takes work. No matter if your children speak right away or not. With Calli speaking so well, so early, I had a hard time remembering how old she really was. I know it seems silly, but I often found myself needing a silent reminder. Zoe has come a long way and it's all because you and Al love her so much and take the TIME to sit and help her and be patient with her. There's a lot to be said for both of you as well!
Keep a big smile on your face! It's all worth it! xo
it is so nice to see parents take such pride in their children's accomplishments, no matter how big or small! good work zoe, i'm glad you are voicing your opinions and letting the world know what you are all about. robyn, you must feel so proud of your girl, but don't forget to feel proud of YOURSELF for all the work and time and effort you have put into helping zoe become who she is.
Awesome job Zoe!!!!
Robyn, you and Al deserve a pat on the back as well. You have spent countless hours working with Zoe to help her improve, so yahoo for you too!
What ever I might have said, I am glad it helped, but you and Al deserve all the credit.
