Ready, Set, Go
FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL

Zoe didn't sleep much the night before preschool, she was too excited and kept talking about going to school throughout the night. She even picked out her outfit, which is amazing because if you know Zoe you know that she could care less what she wears, as long as it's something she's comfortable in. But when I asked what she'd like to wear to school, she said her Dora shirt, and chose her purple skirt to go with it. I was stunned, but happily surprised, usually when given choices, she is very specific but never bats an eye if you pick something out for her. I'm sure that will all change, as she has been showing definite preferences to outfits as of late.
So although we were sleep deprived for the first day, it went really well. Ally, Zoe's good friend, goes to the same school and had returned to do her 2nd year, she is happy to have Zoe coming to preschool with her. It's nice for Zoe to have a familiar face there too. Zoe will go 3 days a week, and one afternoon at her daycare...keeping some part of her world familiar with routine and friends she knows. I'm sure it won't be long before Zoe feels totally comfortable with her new friends, teachers, and preschool. On the first day we met half the class, and parents were invited to stay for the 2.5 hour class. It was good to see what the class will be like and the things they do, when they do them etc., who's kid belong to whom, and getting to know some of the other parents was great too. Zoe was fairly comfortable, and really enjoyed the free play time, singing songs, and going outside.
Thursday is the full class integration day, and again parents are invited to stay and observe, mingle, etc. Tomorrow we'll show Zoe the art center, for some reason we never got to it the other day but I know she will love it. Next week, we leave the kids for their normal days, so the true test will be then. Zoe is so used to daycare, that I think the biggest/toughest transition will be the new place, new kids, and the number of kids since she is used to only 7 kids at daycare and she will have 20 in her preschool class. Since the majority of kids at daycare are girls, it will be interesting to see how Zoe interacts with more boys. She does play with a little boy regularly, and her boy cousins are 4 outta 5 , so she may be just fine and hold her own with them.
Surprise, surprise that I would any anxieties about any of the above, since that it just not my character (last statement dripping with sarcasm). I can't help it, she's my baby, it could be much worse, I could be totally opposite and not give a rat's ass about any of it. And in a month, it will have all blown over anyway, Zoe will have settled any reservations I have by just showing me that she is totally fine with all of it. I'm not that worried just hopeful that everything goes without a hitch. Typical, right?
