More August pics....Beaches and stuff
Okay so here are pictures from the annual Kent's beach visit. My mom and dad, my brother, Randy, and his family all stay at a cabin on the ocean for a week. We used to stay out there as well but decided to make our holidays stretch abit, making day trips out to visit everyone, and heading off to Osoyoos later on in the month.
IT's A BALANCE
Zoe loves to balance on any article that looks worthy, hence the log, and her cousin, Jordan, gave it a go too. They are 9 months apart, so they have lots in common.
Zoe and me, it's amazing that out of 10 or so pictures taken of this pose we got one where we were both looking, and smiling. (thanks to digital cameras we can do this and delete 9)! Outside of the cabin there is a bench seat from a vehicle, interested piece of decor but whatever works, I guess. Zoe and her papa were on some bumpy roads on that seat, thank goodness she had her seat belt on. Her papa is pretty much a kid himself, it's hard to tell sometimes who's having more fun.
Auntie Deita, Jordan and Zoe doing some painting. Great idea Auntie D.
SMORES and SPARKLERS
Mandatory beachin' it things to do. The roasting marshmallows for smores was fun until actually eating them, Zoe is not a marshmallow fan, but the chocolate was accepted with no complaints.
Giving Zoe her first ever sparkler was interesting, in a 'O MY, WHAT IS SHE DOING' kind of interesting. Not so good, making all our hearts stop as we watched her recklessly wave it around. We did go over what to do and what not to do beforehand, but she tried it all anyway, and figured out that holding it directly over her head and really close to your feet got quick and panicked redirections from everyone. No one was hurt, not even a singe. Just maybe a few more gray hairs for mommy and daddy. Zoe had fun.
DONKERSLY, the best beach I know of here. The beach at Kent's is pretty rocky, so I thought the kids would love this long and sandy beach, plus a change of scenery too. Everyone liked it there, despite the fact that it was a cooler day (cloudy and windy), fun was still had by ALL. My brother got very involved in making a sand fortress or something, we had to leave them before seeing the finished product. I'm not sure that digging in the sand could ever get old, just the people do, we were all using the sand toys, and I loved it. A beautiful discovery during lowest tide of the day, this awesome jelly fish, and inch by inch sand dollars packed the beach. My niece Gennelle collected over 100 sand dollars with many plans in mind for them, some to sell, some to give to friends, and some for the kids at the Cancer clinic in Children's hospital. Very sweet Gennelley Belly.
PAPA'S BOAT
Zoe loved the boat this year, this was also not a favourite last year. This year, she couldn't wait, and wanted Papa to go "faster" the whole time. She tried fishing, driving the boat, feeding the eagles, searching for a humpback whale (from Go Diego Go show) and even some prawning (where daddy told her that he was ripping their heads off and throwing them back in the ocean so they grow new tails...right, very creative Al). Al was very happy to catch a Ling Cod, usually he catches the mud sharks, rocks, seaweed, or the bottom of the ocean.
It was a great week! We were pretty tired by the end it though, commuting back and forth, late nights, visiting, and lots of fresh air. Everyone had gone home by Tuesday (mom and dad stayed here for a couple of days after the cabin), and we were heading out of town on Friday. So we had a little bit of time to recuperate, and pack for our holidays.
