June stuff

So May and June have zzzoomed on by us...and we are already here, at the end of the school year. Evan turned 1, and is starting to walk. Zoe is bored after 2 days home for summer, Lord help me...we will be keeping busy, let's just hope it's busy enough. Here is some updates, and pictures.

Zoe the Toothless Wonder, lost her 5th tooth to make her smile extra goofy. Another loose one on it's way out too. I think we might be a bit ahead of schedule with the teeth falling out, but Zoe is loving it, and the dentist seems fine with it.

One day after school, Zoe said she had to pick all the flowers in the grass, for me, so that Daddy wouldn't mow over them that evening. Sweet girl. and smart too.

An early sunny June day, playing the backyard. That water table never gets boring.

EVAN TURNS 1...

it was nice, we had my parents here for the weekend, and Allison & Jordan over for a "party"...one year old style.
Evan signing that he is SOOOOO BIG!!Below with Evan, is Jordan, Allison's baby, he's 8 months old. It's great because we used to live across town from each other but now they live just down the street. We get in lots of visits. Great friends, great neighbours. Can't wait for backyard adventures with the boys as they get going.

How Evan entertains himself while I make dinner, it's all good until he starts unloading. I took this picture, after watching Zoe for awhile, and suddenly I "really" saw just how BIG she is ... she is no longer that little toddler/preschooler. She looks so grown-up in these 2 pictures.

And so is Evan, getting so BIG... oh my goodness. He is so CUTE.

My pack rat husband does get some pretty sweet deals sometimes, shhhhh that is something I am admitting on the down-low. In this case the deal was free, and the sweet was a canoe. Our friends had moved on to other hobbies, and their kids were no longer interested, so Al scored during the move. Among some other toys, this was the best one. Zoe and Al went for a test run on Cranberry Lake, they both had fun, no one sank, and the scenery was beautiful. I think that many canoe trips are ahead of us.

Al, Zoe and Thumblelina ready for the canoe.

Zoe worked very hard at school and daycare making Father's Day gifts, the results were right up Al's alley - all eatable...cake, jam, & biscuits.

Zoe had FUN on her 1st FUN Day at school, she ran gangbusters for the 1st 2 hours, and then lost her wind....only to regain it again to do another lap or two around the obstacle course....then home she went, and passed out on the couch.

Below is this quick clip of Zoe taking part in a presentation the Ks did for the parents, you can't see Zoe very well because of the monitor being in the way...hopefully you can hear her alright. She spoke the loudest and clearest out of 18 students...most were pretty shy, soft spoken, and short sentences or one word were used since they all kind of got stage fright....but not ZOE - after all her hard work, this is what made me the proudest. They were to share a thought of K or Grade 1 along with a picture that they drew. Zoe drew herself being excited about going into Grade 1, and she said just that.

Zoe receiving her "diploma", gift, and other stuff. She was supposed to shake their hands but she just went in for the hugs instead.

Evan learning to walk...so proud of himself, and so are we.

That's it for now, hope you have a fun Summer, I'll be checking your blogs. If you are in the area, call us...we love visitors.

A Princess, 8 teeth, crawling crazy, and other stuff

It's been awhile, and there is always to so much to say, it's hard for me to narrow it down to just a few things. Here is my go.

Daily, Zoe says the most hilarious or sweetest things, I have started writing them down so I don't forget. For Instance:

Zoe went to get her pj's on and when she came back out of her room, she was dressed like this (in her nightie) and struck a pose announcing in her sing-song voice....

"look I'm a Princess of the Night!".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evan started crawling a couple of months ago, and quickly figured out that he could pull himself up, on everything. One of his favourite things to do is clear a table or two. So our coffee table has a few coasters, books, and anything else that is safe for Evan to "clear" many times in a day. I've noticed the novelty has worn off abit. When we were in Abbotsford, Oma's table was full of perfect breakable items to clear off but Evan had moved on by then to bigger and better things, like climbing stairs and licking & ptptpting - (rasping with his tongue & spit) the patio sliding glass doors. Their dog was sitting on the other side too, and that is the closest to a dog that Evan has ever been. He loved this. He also made his "mark" at my parents house, except there was no dog looking in, on their patio sliding glass doors too.
Evan can crawl pretty fast, and although it looks like he may "blow a tire" from going so fast, amazingly he doesn't most times. He really "books it" when he hears the tub water start, making all kinds of excited sounds as he goes. He sure likes to visit Zoe while she is in the tub. When they bath together, it doesn't last too long since Evan is only about a 10 minute tubber. He doesn't love his baths like Zoe does.
Evan's first Easter
I can't believe, this is the first year that we didn't get any pics of Zoe on Easter, we are bad. Al took a pretty long video of Zoe doing her Egg Hunt in the backyard though so at least we have that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We headed to Abby for Zoe's Spring Break. We went for the week.

While there we spent our only spare couple of hours at the lake and park. It has a walk-way around the lake with 3 parks to discover. It was good to get out. The kids were going a little squirrelly with all the different places and people to visit.

We stopped for a chocolate and snack break on a bench. We snapped these close-ups. Let me explain the Energizer sticker...

One of the reasons that went on this walk was so that Evan would nap, as he really wasn't napping well while we were away and his mood was starting wear thin on all of us. Of course, he was too curious to sleep. He is a little nosy-parker. We were laughing about it as we stopped for our snack, since we were nearing the end of the walk-way and Evan still wasn't sleeping. I called him my little Energizer Bunny, and then Al looked on the bench and there was a sticker that said just that. Al immediately put it on Evan's forehead. We took a couple of pics and took it off - it had germs you know. Eww.

Evan fell asleep just a we rounded the corner to the parking lot. So we went on a Snooze cruise in the van after that. And took pictures of the beautiful daffodil fields, they've always been there but we didn't really admire them until we moved away.

Visiting Oma and Opa's farm is alot different now than when they had raspberries everywhere. Now they have 5 cows, and soon will have pigs too. They are pretty cute.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We rarely have time to visit with friends, and although this time we did see a couple, we didn't get to see everyone and that part really sucks. However, I am thrilled I was able to spend some time with my dear friend, Bronwen, and her daughter Makayla - 3.5 yrs. turning 10.
There is so many things I could add but I'm not even sure if anyone reads this much anymore now that there is facebook and things. ??
In all this chaos, Evan now has 8 teeth, we've had our fair share of colds, and poor Zoe had quite the ear and throat infection this winter.
Evan is almost 11 months, I can't believe it. We did a Mother Goose program and both both really liked that. Evan is learning quite a few baby signs, and says a couple of words like Mama, and makes car sounds for anything that moves or has wheels. He loves cars. Go figure. He is Al's son. Evan has started scaling walls, lol, well sort of, he pulls himself up on the wall and walks along it. Oh boy.
Zoe is growing up so fast, and Kindergarten is almost over, no more school half-days in September. That will be weird but very nice, I'm sure.
We are well into Spring now, and trying to finish all our winter projects, as well as start some Spring ones. Will we ever catch up?
Soon Summer will be here, can't wait for the sun, and beach days.
Zoe @ 6 years and 1 gap in her smile (lost front top tooth)
click on picture to enlarge
I think it was Wednesday, Zoe told me that on Saturday she wanted to make cupcakes. I'm sure I said okay. I forgot about it. At 8:30 this morning, Zoe was dressed, and ready to make cupcakes. Memory like an elephant. The little mother hen hounded us until Al finally helped her get started. We needed our coffee and breakfast first. (at least us adults thought so).
For all curious, licking of the ladle and spatula (Al's) were held off until all cupcake batter was distributed and pans were in the oven. Zoe sure does make the licking look like the best part of all. (I myself prefer to hold out for the icing)
By this afternoon, the cupcakes were iced and sprinkled for all to enjoy (well 3 out of our 4).
Zoe is such a ham. She has now lost 3 baby teeth, and has another wiggly one too. The toothfairy has been busy visiting here.
Evan @ 7months, 3 weeks old
Where does the time go? We've been enjoying our family of 4. It feels like forever but it has only been (almost) 8 months.
Evan is so cute, funny, easy-going, has a bit of red-hair and the temper to go with it - the switch can flip easily from calm to sooooo mad. We laugh. Evan loves going places which is great because we go everywhere, and have to take Zoe to school etc. Evan is a social butterfly, talks loudly, and loves to bang things - his ears don't seem sensitive like Zoe's were as a baby in the least bit.
Life is busy, and most of the time the "me" time that I was used to is used up in the bathroom :0{) sparingly.
Evan is just starting to do the backwards commando crawl, which results in frustration to see that where he intended to go is only further away now. It's too cute.
I will post a video or two, and more pics soon.
Just wanted to get some latest pics up, these were taken today after breakfast. Oh yah, Evan loves his food too. You'd think we are starving him each time he gets fed - he can't get enough and is so excited.
I can tell I haven't blogged in months, I have no idea what to say. or blog.
4 weeks old, already
WOW, where did the time go?! I know I haven't been sleeping too much, but the time went fast and slow at the same time. I hope I savoured all the moments and can retain some memories of these past 4 weeks.At first the crying and all the rest of the noises that Evan makes was hard for Zoe to tolerate, as noise as always been a sensitive thing for her. Now she is fine with it, and has really risen to her role as Evan's big sister, she is my 'go-fer' girl, Ex. Zoe is going to Evan's room 'fer' a clean outfit, diaper, or blanket.
She really likes being helpful, and knowing that she can contribute in caring for Evan right now is great.
Evan now weighs 2 pounds more than when we brought him home. He is a very active little guy. Already holding up his head, rolling to one side, and focusing on toys, faces, and my boobs - his number one priority...lol.
I'm impatiently and slowly recovering, my mind wants to go but my body says not yet. It's been a challenge, a kind of refreshing one, to give up some of the control around here, and take a back seat...luckily I have a great and supportive husband, compassionate and thoughtful friends, and a loving family.
Cutting the cord
Since we've had Evan, it feels like (to me) that we 'cut the cord' for Zoe again too. She graduated from Preschool and can hardly wait to go to "big kids school"...she's totally ready. Then she lost her first tooth!! I can't believe how big Zoe is already...especially compared to Evan. Our little girl has grown so much.
Snuggle time!
Al and Evan, both exhausted, why I was still awake to take this picture is beyond me, I think I was waiting for Evan to wake up so I could nurse him, then go to sleep.
