National Drowning Prevention Day

Saturday, July 28th, 2007 - National Drowning Prevention Day

Next to traffic incidents, drowning is the second most common cause of accidental death in Canada.

Completely preventable, drowning can happen to anyone. Swimming is a life skill that everyone needs to learn. It is no different than fire safety or street-proofing our children.

In 2007 the Lifesaving Society will launch it's much a waited Water Smart® Toolkit. With the toolkit and its companion CD our Affiliates will be a stronger voice for water safety in their community.

Have your family take the Swim to Survive Challenge!

The Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive Challenge asks, "Can you pass the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive Standard?" Meeting the "Canadian Swim to Survive Standard" is an important first step to being safe around water. This standard defines the minimum swimming skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water.
