2007 ~ 1 out of 150 are diagnosed under the autism spectrum

For my own knowledge and your interest (maybe), I plan to select a monthly awareness (each month). Click the link on the side under Increase your Awareness to see all months and what awarenesses are shown. This will keep me grounded and learning about so many new things.

Check out the show links on The View, Oprah, CNN Larry King Live, as they did shows on Autism recently. I am sure there is more, these were the ones I've seen bits of.

We are somewhat rehearsed on the subject and the different characteristics associated to autism. A very good friend of mine has a son who is autistic and another good friend is a teacher at a autistic school in Edmonton.

Also, Dann's cousin's son is autistic and has a guide dog to help him. The dog is tied to him to help him stay safe and to keep him company. He responds well to the dog!

There are so many different spectriums to autism, each child has different yet similiar behavioural difficulties.

Hi Robyn,
I've known several autistic kids at schools where I have taught. I think one of the most important things with these kids is early diagnosis and support from families and friends. The more people who understand this disorder the better. www.autismspeaks.org is a great website for information on autism. Good luck!

Hey,
I think these awareness groups are more prevalent these days because people aren't afraid to speak out anymore! I think it's fantastic. I have 2 family members with autism, so I am happy to be more aware!!!
