The Long Weekend

We started out our May Long weekend, on the Friday, and made the two ferry ride trek to Abbotsford to visit all our family. It's always crazy, rushing here to there. First things first though, it was Papa's birthday...candles were blown out, and ice cream cake was served. The long day of travelling was forgotten, Zoe telling us her ice cream cake was "delicioso"! Saturday was here, and let the visiting begin....but first before the rush, we took Zoe to an indoor adventure zone. She and Al both had a blast. Then it was off to see Oma and Opa, and their dog, Blackie.
Sunday was spent with Al's family, mom made a feast as usual, Zoe's aunties (Doris and Lori) played the piano for Zoe, Al's brother Dennis was there too. There was lots of catching up to do.

Ah yes, sleeping beauty, welcomed herself throughout the night into our bed, after making a quick visit to see Gramma and Papa in their bed...one problem though, besides the fact that she wasn't in her own bed. Al got literally pushed out, and went to sleep in Zoe's bed, and I woke up with a fraction of bed left to me. ZOE had slowly managed to hog the whole bed. She may be small but she is tall, and when those legs stretch out across the bed, she takes up alot of room. Plus she is a super heater, so we tend to move away from her, to cool down. Isn't she gorgeous though!?!!!

Monday brought hugs for cousin Jordan, who is 2 and 3/4s, they are the same size though. Big kid. A group photo is rare, so we are lucky to have this, 4 cousins, from my side of the family.
Jordan, Jayden, Zoe, Gennelle. We had a good visit with my brother, Randy and his wife Deita. The rain prevented any outdoor play thankfully there is lots of toys inside, but for the adults, Tim Horton's came thru for us. You can bet we had some of that everyday, we don't have the luxury of one here.

Same day, more visiting, first a quick visit to Al's Oma's apartment, where Oma showered Zoe with gifts and love. Then we were off to more visiting...this time with Al's brother's family, Norbert and Anne-Marie. Cousins Aiden and Austin were happily painting with Zoe, it was messy, and Zoe even painted her cousins. Soon after, thankfully, it was time to eat dinner. We were treated to a great rib and steak BBque.
The rain, the rain, the rain. It didn't want to go away. My dad and I took Zoe to this park a couple of times, both times it was raining. Zoe didn't care though. This park rocks, even in the rain. The only dry ride in town was the escalator in Sears, which Papa and Zoe rode a few times. This is my parents back yard, there is always something to look at, and watch. My dad is truly retired...he has bird feeders, and a bird chart so he can tell you what kind of birds are visiting his feeders. They also have a couple of squirrels that frequent their yard for peanuts and other things, one is black and one is brown. The stellar jay that hangs around squawks at dad each time he sees him, as he knows who puts the food in the feeder, and will feed him peanuts as well. This particular bird (don't know the name of it, sorry dad, I know you showed me what kind it is on your chart) is eating right outside my parents kitchen window, so we can sit at the table and watch the birds eat at the feeder, really close up. Zoe enjoyed watching the birds.
Since our visits to our families homes are months apart, we always receive a very warm welcome and are always completely spoiled with all our favourite foods, comforts of home, and now of course, that has extended to Zoe. I saw this bike, and knew it was the right price, and size for Zoe. My parents went with me to get it, but only if they could buy it for Zoe. She was given that bike among many other things, and then everything from Al's family, and great Oma....Zoe was treated like royalty. Like any princess should be treated.
We did see all of our family, but unfortunately not even close, did we see all our friends. We did manage to see a couple of friends, but mostly time was preciously spent with our family. We had a really great visit, thanks to everyone for making it so fun. See you in the summer, and remember our house is open to you for a visit.
