Climatizing...with Dr. Smillie

The Eager Beavers and Tiny Tots went on a field trip today!
It was pretty cool, the dental assistant showed the kids all the instruments, and how they clean the teeth. Zoe really appreciated the smiley face balloons. Her friend, Emily, in the background, also chose to watch from a distance, and miss her turn at riding in the chair, and other little games. When the assistant asked the kids if they would like to feel the suction machine on their hands, about half dived all over that, and the other half got the deer caught in the headlights look. When it was Zoe's turn, the lady offered to have the suction "get" her dolly instead of her, I guess judging by the look on her face, she knew suctioning anything on Zoe was out of the question. Zoe replied with a big "NO", making it quite clear, that dolly was not going to be subjected to such torture either.
It's very amusing to see how some kids just get right in the thick of things, and some grab any hand available and hope that nobody asks them to participate. Watching, thankfully, is all that was required. Dr. Smillie brought out the HUGE toothbrush, and his finger chomping crocodile, both were big hits. Although Zoe was interested, she stuck close to me, giggling when some kids got their fingers chomped by the crocodile. And of course, Dr. Smillie, was prepared, and had little surprise bags for the kids on their way out. It's never a struggle getting Zoe to brush her teeth, but the funky toothbrush she got makes it that much more fun.

They should have climatizing field trips for adults...I'd like a funky toothbrush. ;)
